The article carries out a constructive analysis of the self-esteem of an individual as an important criterion for the formation of an individual. It is argued that the self-esteem of an individual is a determining criterion of his individuality, which carries out its formation under the influence and influence of various factors (I-real and I-ideal). The triad of self-esteem is revealed: overestimated, underestimated and adequate. It was established that an individual is not born with high or low self-esteem, it is formed by the surrounding environment
