The article is dedicated to the study of the essence and characteristics of moral consciousness as a psychological, social, and cultural formation. The transformation of values caused by global changes in all spheres of human activity serves as a significant factor explaining the relevance of the problem. Qualitative methods were used for data collection. Thematic and content analyses were applied to interpret concepts related to moral consciousness. Descriptive methods were employed for a deeper understanding of the phenomenon and for interpreting the general characteristics of the components of moral consciousness.
The authors characterize the phenomenon under study according to various factors: its bearer, psychological components, and levels of formation. The concepts of moral relations, moral qualities, and the moral ideal are highlighted. A concise description of the main generally accepted components of moral consciousness is provided. The authors conclude that moral consciousness is a multifaceted formation reproduced through the integration of psychological, social, and cultural dimensions. It is an integral part of personality development. The study demonstrates that this phenomenon has distinct levels, characteristic features, and structure, which is divided into cognitive, value-based, emotional, and behavioral aspects of personality
