The article outlines the necessity for military personnel to possess a set of psychological characteristics as a prerequisite for accurate shooting. It identifies groups of personal traits and substantiates their importance in the development of marksmanship skills with firearms in order to improve shooting proficiency. The article emphasizes the relevance of developing intellectual, motivational, and emotional-volitional qualities, as well as considering psychophysiological features to enhance the effectiveness of acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical skills for accurate shooting. It is highlighted that the presence of these characteristics enables military personnel to successfully overcome negative mental states and difficulties that may arise during shooting; to activate mental processes and mobilize the body’s capabilities to hit the target; to improve the ability to concentrate on the task and make quick, optimal decisions for the effective use of weapons in extreme conditions of professional activity
