The article presents the results of a theoretical and empirical study of the factors contributing to the formation of codependent relationships. Various approaches to defining codependency are analyzed, and the destructive impact of interpersonal dependence on personality structure is identified. The findings expand understanding of the relationship between self-doubt, emotional reliance on others, helpless behavior manifested through victimhood, and the tendency toward codependent behavior
