The article examines the problem of the transformation of mass political consciousness in the context of the modernization of Ukraine’s political system. It is determined that political consciousness is formed under the influence not only of the national and cultural characteristics of the country, and the level of its economic, social, and technological development, but also of the specific socio-political environment in which it exists. Specific characteristics of mass political consciousness in the societies of newly independent states, including Ukraine, were identified
