The article explores the patterns of mental and behavioral manifestations of soldiers in combat. The concept of PTSD and the main principles and criteria for its diagnosis are examined. An algorithm for diagnosing PTSD in servicemen after participation in the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) is presented, and ways to achieve effective quality diagnostics for combatants with mental health issues are outlined. The material contributes to understanding the mental health challenges faced by servicemen who have experienced severe stress conditions in their lives
