The article is devoted to the problem of substantiating the criteria and indicators of the diagnostics of the professional readiness of officers of the operational-tactical level of management (hereinafter referred to as the OTLU). It is found out that such an integrated subject of their professional readiness should be the development of their professional competence. The meaning of the concepts of “criterion”, “indicator”, “levels of development” is substantiated, general requirements for the criteria for the diagnostics of the professional readiness of officers of the OTLU are set out. Four levels of development of the professional competence of officers of the OTLU are characterized – low, satisfactory, sufficient and high. It is shown that the identified criteria and indicators make it possible to qualitatively clarify the development of their professional competence as managers of the middle management level in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
