The article analyzes the views of domestic and foreign scholars on the socio-psychological problems of aging. It highlights the psychological characteristics of elderly people. The main approaches to the study of old age and aging are considered, including the problem of ageism and the factors of retirement, as well as the issues of active aging and pre-retirement preparation. The article identifies the factors influencing the adaptive processes of elderly people to a new quality of lifeф
