The article presents a step-by-step analysis of the history and peculiarities of teaching psychology in Ukraine. The contribution of Ukrainian scientists to the formation of psychology in different historical periods is presented. The relationship between the development of psychological science and the stages of formation of academic psychology is emphasized. Conclusions were made that the success of the professional activity of future specialists largely depends on the formation of their psychological competence
