Self-attitude is analysed as a central element of the substantive component of self-government. The results of an empirical study of the self-attitude of National Guard servicemen are presented. It is concluded that the insufficiently developed general capacity for self-government is linked to the need to implement protective mechanisms of self-attitude among National Guard servicemen
