The article deals with the modern features of the formation of the leadership institute, considers the main directions and approaches in understanding the nature of leadership as a phenomenon in modern science, elucidates the essence and main content of the trends in the formation of the leadership institute in the conditions of transformational processes taking place in Ukrainian society, considers the peculiarities of the manifestation of these trends in Ukraine and their influence on the psychological features of the formation of the leadership institute
