The article examines the problem of interpersonal relationships in young people with different levels of emotional intelligence. Modern approaches to research in the field of communications are analyzed, taking into account the emotional component. The main types of problems that are typical for people with different levels of emotional intelligence are highlighted. On the basis of the survey, typical problem areas in this topic are systematized. It has been established that, depending on the level of emotional intelligence, young people have differences in their tolerant attitude towards others, their choice of conflict resolution strategies, and the level of self-centeredness of the individual
