The article is devoted to the problems of researching the psychodiagnostic possibilities of the adapted technique «Unusual use» J. Guildford in order to study the individual characteristics of cadets of educational institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with specific training conditions and police officers. Currently, no Ukrainian-language versions of this test have been developed for law enforcement officers, although its psychodiagnostic potential is quite significant and can be used in the process of psychological support of employees of the security and defense sector of our country. The article presents the theoretical foundations and structure of experimental research. The authors presented the Ukrainian-language text and the keys to the test, revealed the method of its use by practical psychologists for the purpose of researching indicators of personality creativity. The article also presents the main psychometric characteristics of this test: criterion validity, reliability (retest and parallel forms), internal consistency, etc., average test norms and data on the statistical relationship between creativity and learning success are given. It is shown that based on the results of this test, psychologists can study the creative potential of cadets and police officers, predict the success of future professional activity. The article states that most cadets, who are characterized by experts as successful, demonstrate normative and increased indicators of creativity (number, flexibility and originality). The results of the study confirmed the significant psychodiagnostic possibilities of the adapted test «Unusual use» and the expediency of its use in the process of psychological support of police officers' activities and training of cadets of higher education institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the state
