The article carries out a phenomenological analysis of the image in psychological science as a special mental image. It is noted that an image is a purposefully created mental image, which is both intersubject and autosubject interaction, aimed at creating an emotionally colored, manipulative image in the mass consciousness, which has the character of a stereotype and which is formed for specific strategic and practical tasks
