The article highlights the main linguistic means of expressing emotionality in text messages and states that they are an important component of verbal communication, a powerful means of influencing human consciousness and the motivational basis of behavior and activity. The main aspects of emotionality as a language phenomenon are considered. Examples of emotional text triggers of different keys used in social networks are given. Attention is focused on the development of critical thinking and media literacy of the population as a preventive measure of resistance to destructive media influences
