The article provides a theoretical justification for the fact that the choice of the mechanism of mental protection depends on both external and internal factors, which include stable characterological features. The conducted analysis of the psychological system of the teacher's activity allows us to talk about mental protection as an inseparable component of the professional's personality. Psychic protection is most fully represented in the subsystem of professionally important qualities
