The article describes the main stages of the formation of psychodiagnostics, starting from ancient times, when the first attempts to classify personal types were made by ancient Greek philosophers, until the end of the 20th century, when psychodiagnostic methods gained scientific validity and systematization. Particular attention is paid to the role of psychodiagnostics in the context of modern challenges, including the adaptation of methods in the conditions of social and political changes, in particular the war in Ukraine
