У дослідженні розглядається розвиток когнітивних навичок читання іноземною мовою як складний процес, що залучає механізми робочої пам'яті. Встановлюється, які механізми робочої пам'яті впливають на процес читання іноземною мовою і яким чином. Визначаються зміст і принципи навчання та застосування стратегій читання. Визначається вплив виконання завдань на розуміння прочитаного тексту при використанні стратегій читання
