The article substantiates the methodology for studying the personal component of managerial competence of future police officers. The personal or subjective component includes the development of key personality traits essential for management, such as sociability, openness, emotional stability, the formation of a personal self-concept, and adequacy of self-esteem. Based on an analysis of psychological methods and psychodiagnostic techniques, the features of the empirical study of the personal component of future police officers were identified, focusing on personality traits and self-assessment. The analysis of the diagnostic results of the personal component of managerial competence in both future and serving officers made it possible to identify the psychological characteristics of its development
