The article presents the historical and scientific aspects of the studied problem of the ideal image, a list of names and main directions, demonstrates the forms of imaginary dysontogenesis of personality, the connection of ideal images with emotions, character accentuations, imagination, consciousness, and will, and presents a list of methods for studying the problem of imagination. The article notes that the psyche represents its own state (normal or pathological) in ideal images. The problem of ideal images is brought to an interdisciplinary level, which increases the relevance of this problem in science
