The article examines such concepts as “stress,” “adaptation,” and “coping” in the works of foreign and domestic scientists and leading psychological theories. Various concepts of coping behavior are analyzed. It is stated that coping behavior is realized through selected coping strategies based on personal coping resources. Coping strategies are considered both as a means of stress management and as an individual's immediate response to a threat. The structural elements of coping behavior as a complex dynamic process are described
