The article analyzes the works of researchers who studied identity as a psychological and social phenomenon. The structural components of the personality of women convicted to imprisonment are presented. The adaptive capabilities of convicted women and their relationship with the structural components of personality are described. Identity is considered both as a complex integral socio-psychological formation and as a category of adaptive resources of personality
