The article examines philosophical, psychophysiological, and sociological approaches to understanding the essence of adaptation. The stages of psychological adaptation and maladaptation are analyzed. The significant role of intelligence in the adaptation process is highlighted. The issue of professional adaptation in military pedagogy is explored. The structural components of professional adaptation of junior officers are studied and provided with a detailed characterization
