The article considers scientific approaches and practical achievements of scientists on the problem of emotional intelligence in terms of its consideration as a predictor of various aspects of regulation in the professional activity of a specialist. The role of emotional intelligence as a resource in the regulation of an individual's professional life is determined, and the possibility of its development is identified. It is noted that the problem of emotional intelligence development requires further study and that there is a need for more scientific research, especially in the context of emotional intelligence as an ability. The question of the optimal period for the development of emotional intelligence remains controversial
