Significant changes in the security environment and in the socio-cultural dimension of human existence necessarily cause a restructuring of the need-motivational sphere of the individual, which is highlighted by the author in the context of the growth of the motivational factor in ensuring the performance of assigned tasks by military personnel. It has been established that the way to effective professional activity lies through the understanding of motivation. The article is devoted to the systematization of scientific views on the issue of professional motivation of servicemen, taking into account the experience of foreign armies
