The article presents the results of an empirical study of the mechanisms of formation of professional plans and mental regulation of the educational activity of the subject of learning. The article discusses the methodological and procedural-technical organisation of the study: it introduces the conceptual apparatus and gives its operational characteristics, identifies the contingent and determines the size of the sample, selects the methods and techniques of the study, describes and justifies them for solving the tasks set, and gives a brief interpretation of the meanings of the parameters obtained. The variables that vary and influence the studied factors of the formation of professional plans and mental regulation of the educational activity of adolescents also include the gender and age of the subjects
