The article reveals the essence of the phenomenon of depression in psychological science, characterizes the peculiarities of its manifestation, appearance, course and ways of overcoming it in military personnel. The main determinants of the depressive state of the military were studied; the relationship between personal-typological, affective-behavioral criteria and the criterion of cognitive activity of the occurrence of a depressive state in military personnel was revealed
