The article examines the moral traits and virtues inherent in military personnel performing combat missions. Particular attention is paid to the characteristics of army values, moral qualities, and virtues of military personnel serving in the context of the Russian-Ukrainian war. In the course of theoretical analysis of the historical evolution of the virtues of military personnel in different eras and among different peoples, and taking into account the results obtained, the moral traits and virtues of military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine performing combat missions are identified and characterized. The issue under study is extremely important in the system of moral and psychological support, as our future victory and the formation of a “new model” Ukrainian army depend on the morality, army values, moral traits, and virtues of Ukrainian military personnel
