The article reveals the theoretical and methodological approaches of various authors regarding the disclosure of the essential features of the concept of «professional crisis» and «mental states». The consequences of the phenomenon of a professional crisis and the possible negative impact on the efficiency of an individual's life are analyzed. The psychological features of the professional crisis and negative mental states are considered. Factors determining the emergence and course of crises of human professional development are revealed. Based on the results of the concept of professional formation of an individual, the stages of professional crises and possible negative consequences of the course of crisis stages are distinguished and constructive options for overcoming them are proposed. The mechanisms of formation and manifestation of crises in the professional formation of an individual, the peculiarities of their development and course are considered
