The article discusses the problem of experiencing authenticity when overcoming difficult situations among sea transport specialists. The author presents a model and criteria for assessing authenticity in the structure of overcoming behavior of a sea transport specialist. Positive correlations between problem-oriented coping strategies with semantic and value criteria of authenticity have been established; negative correlations between emotionally-oriented overcoming and value, actually authentic and reflective criteria of authenticity; positive correlation of emotional overcoming with the position of the symbiotic donor as a component of the semantic criterion of authenticity. The selected types of maritime transport specialists differ in the structure of coping behavior, semantic levels and manifestations of authenticity
