The article carries out a theoretical analysis of the psychological features of the formation of concepts and generalizations in the thinking activity of the subject based on the analysis of psychological research in the context of the formation and development of critical thinking. It has been proven that the cognitive process of generalization and formation of concepts is an independent psychological category with a clear theoretical basis, psychological regularities, features of functioning and its own mental content
