The article states that the modern historical experience of Ukraine, institutions of civil society, civil society in general play an important role not only in building an independent, democratic and legal Ukrainian state, but also in ensuring its defense. In the conditions of Russian military aggression, when the very existence of the Ukrainian nation and its nation-state is under threat, the key natural rights of the Ukrainian people and its very existence, when the state was not ready to perform the function of defense, civil society united by the single task of protecting its Motherland, acts as one of the decisive factors in ensuring the defense of the Ukrainian state
