The article presents the results of a theoretical and empirical study of the emotional intelligence of students studying at college and university in various technical specialties. An analysis of the psychological features of the emotional intelligence of students of technical specialties, its formation, formation and development was carried out. Factors affecting the formation of emotional intelligence of respondents were analyzed and a comparative analysis of indicators of emotional intelligence of college and university students was carried out. The relevance of the study of emotional intelligence of students and its importance in academic success, achieving one's own goals and meeting one's needs is substantiated. On the basis of the conducted research, low indicators of the level of development of emotional intelligence in technical students, the priority of a certain type of professional environment for students of different technical specialties and different levels of education were revealed
