The article focuses on the fact that mental trauma is a destructive personal formation, which is formed as an emotional response to traumatic events and can be manifested in certain disorders of the cognitive, motivational and emotional-volitional spheres, the system of communication and behavior. Methods of reducing manifestations of post-traumatic stress disorders in military personnel, advice on improving the psycho-emotional state and some effective methods of self-motivation are highlighted
