The article analyzes the evolution of the values of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the context of democratic transition, the emergence of the Ukrainian political nation and the affirmation of the subjectivity of the Ukrainian state, as well as the significance of the values shared by the military for the success and stability of democracy during peace and war. The type and nature of the value of the armed forces are considered as markers of the state of democracy, and the commonality of the values of society, the state and the army – as evidence of the viability of a democratic country
