The article analyzes the problem of developing a person's adaptive abilities to extreme living conditions. The results of an empirical study of the psychological readiness of legionnaire servicemen to operate in combat conditions are presented. The level of stress resistance and adaptability, the effectiveness of self-regulation and the level of unproductive neuropsychological tension, which is a resource for the physical and mental health of individuals, were determined
