The article explores the features of conceptualizing the variable “cadet self-activity,” which allows for substantiating the necessary diagnostic procedure and obtaining data on the cadet’s internal psychological resources. The presented results make it possible to identify certain interrelationships between the content of conceptual and operational variables in the study of cadet self-activity. The conceptual variables used in the study are justified, and the specifics of the “cadet self-activity” component are revealed
