The article presents results confirming that learning becomes successful when the student has a positive attitude toward learning. The strength of the motivation for learning activities largely determines the amount of effort and productivity, and therefore, success. In the learning process, students are influenced by a whole range of motives, in which the dominant motive for learning is the desire for knowledge and interest in the process of acquiring it, while a low level of motivation can lead to the emergence of learned helplessness. The main purpose of the article is to study the motives for learning that play a leading role in the formation of learned helplessness in schoolchildren and to establish the percentage ratio of their levels among primary school students
