The article presents the results of a theoretical analysis of issues related to the psychological characteristics of an individual's professional career development. The views of foreign and domestic scientists on this phenomenon are presented. The features of career formation of an individual in two directions – structural and procedural – are characterised. The main purpose of the article is to provide a theoretical justification for the features of the development of career orientation of an individual
